To build relationships - People communicate to make new relationships the way we speak to them at first may make them feel welcome or overlooked. To maintain relationships – Each time we talk to a child we are maintaining our relationship with them. To gain and share information – The information you receive and give will help you carry out your work effectively. Responding to an individual’s reaction when communicating will all depends on the situation. In my placement most of the communication will be done by verbal and touch. For example when a child is having lunch they will use symbols to show me what they want for lunch.
